Webinar: Youth Mental Health & Psychological Resilience during the COVID-19 Pandemic

April 9, 2020 @ 15:00 - 16:00 EAT

As the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic sweeps across the world, it is causing widespread concern, fear and stress, all of which are natural and normal reactions to the changing and uncertain situation that everyone finds themselves in. Africa which has a young population—with a median age of 19 and with an estimated 80 million young people in vulnerable employment and a further 110 million who do not contribute to the economy- the long term consequences of this pandemic cannot be understated. Already, young people are beginning to feel the economic and psychological pain with business closures, redundancies and pay cuts. These factors are leading to stress, anxiety, fear, sadness and loneliness. And also, mental health disorders, including anxiety and depression, can worsen.

In light of this, the Lizz Ntonjira Network will be hosting a webinar conversation with Diana Machi, a Clinical Psychologist and Venoranda Kuboka, a Child and Youth Therapist to share their insights on how to cope during this challenging period.
